ABOUT

NIMCET (NIT MCA Common Entrance Test)

NIMCET is a National Level Test conducted by National Institute of Technology. It is a gateway to pursue the post-graduation programme in computer application offered through NIT’s across the country.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Qualifying Exam with Minimum Percentage of Marks:

 

  • Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university, with minimum
  • 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA for open category
  • 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/PWD Category
  • No Requirement of conversion of Marks to CGPA or vise versa.
  • Candidate should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at Graduate level.
  • Candidates in their final year of qualifying examination are also eligible.
  • Candidates those have completed/completing BSc/BCA/BSc.(hons.) programme of 3 years from Open Universities are also eligible.

Cut off Trends: (630+ for NIT’s Raipur and Agartala)           

The cut-off scores of NIMCET depend on the following factors:

- The difficulty level of the exam

- The number of candidates appearing for the examination.

- Seat availability at participating Institutes.

- Performance of candidates in the entrance exam.

 

NOTE: NIT releases the result in the form of Rank.

(Where your scores in all sections will be multiplied by a factor of 3,1.5,2,1 respectively. Thus max. weightage will be 1000)

SELECTION PROCESS:

NIT’s authority held counselling process. NIMCET application form is common for appearing for Entrance Test, Counseling and Admission to MCA at all the 11 participating NIT’s.

 There are three rounds in the Counselling process. First Two are “Online” while the third one is “Offline” mode.

Step 1 – Login to the official website

 Step 2 - Choice of Filling and Locking

Step 3 - Seat Allotment in online mode

Step 4 - Report online to ARC (Admission Reporting Centre)

Step 5 - Reporting at Allotted Institute with documents and fees.
