ABOUT

NIMCET (NIT MCA Common Entrance Test)

The National Institute of Technology MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) is a nationwide test administered by NITs (National Institutes of Technology) for admission to their Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme. This exam permits entrance to the 9 NITs' MCA programmes. This examination attracts roughly 25,000 candidates each year.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Qualifying Exam with Minimum Percentage of Marks:
  • Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university, with minimum
  • 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA for open category
  • 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/PWD Category
  • Candidate should have studied a minimum Three years with Mathematics/ Statistics as one of the subjects
  • Candidates in their final year of qualifying examination are also eligible.
  • Candidates those have completed/completing BSc/BCA/BSc.(hons.) programme of 3 years from Open Universities are also eligible.
  • Conversion of scored marks from CGPA to percentage and vice-versa is not permitted.

The cut-off scores of NIMCET depend on the following factors:

- The difficulty level of the exam

- The number of candidates appearing for the examination.

- Seat availability at participating Institutes.

- Performance of candidates in the entrance exam.

NOTE: NIT releases the result in the form of Rank.

 

SELECTION PROCESS:

NIT’s authority held a counselling process. NIMCET application form is common for appearing for the Entrance Test, Counseling, and Admission to MCA at all the 10 participating NITs.

Step 3 - Seat Allotment & Document Verification

Step 4 - Getting Admitted into the Allotted Institute

Step 5 - Reporting at Allotted Institute with documents and fees.
