The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is a premier public deemed university established in 1936. It has campuses in Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad and offers postgraduate programmes across areas such as management, social sciences, healthcare, analytics and development studies.
For TISS Admission 2027, the admission route depends on the programme. For the 2027-28 academic year, TISS has officially announced that CAT 2026 scores will be used for admission to four postgraduate programmes at the Mumbai Campus. Other postgraduate programmes may use CUET-PG or programme-specific admission routes.

Before applying, candidates should understand the key details of TISS Admission 2027, including the campuses, entrance exams and programmes covered under the admission process.

In 2026, TISS released 6 merit lists for CAT-PG programmes. For CUET-PG programmes, TISS also released 6 merit lists for several programmes.
The 2026 CAT-PG application opened on 3 November 2025 and the portal was reopened from 3 to 11 January 2026. The CAT-PG shortlist was announced on 13 February, followed by the selection process in March and the first merit list in April.

TISS does not currently offer a postgraduate programme with the official title of MBA. However, the institute offers several management-oriented programmes in areas such as Human Resource Management, Organisation Development, Healthcare Administration and Analytics. These programmes provide specialised management education and prepare students for careers across different sectors..
Eligibility differs according to the programme. Candidates should check the individual programme requirements before applying.
For example, the MA HRM & LR programme requires candidates to have completed a recognised Bachelor's or Master's degree of the required duration and formal education pattern.
Therefore, students should not assume that the eligibility criteria for one TISS Mumbai course will automatically apply to all four CAT-based programmes.
For 2027-28 admission, candidates applying to the four announced Mumbai programmes must appear for CAT 2026:
● MA Human Resource Management & Labour Relations
● MA Organisation Development, Change and Leadership
● Master of Hospital Administration
● Master of Sciences in Analytics
TISS has stated that CAT 2026 scores will be used for shortlisting and selection for these programmes.
For several other postgraduate programmes, TISS used CUET-PG 2026 for admission. In 2026, TISS listed multiple CUET-PG paper codes, including COQP11 and COQP12, along with other codes depending on the programme.
The CUET-PG paper requirement can change from one admission cycle to another, so candidates should check the official 2027 programme-wise mapping before applying.
TISSNET, or the TISS National Entrance Test, was an entrance examination previously conducted by TISS. The official TISS admission archive records TISSNET-related admission activities from earlier admission cycles.
However, TISSNET is not the announced entrance exam for the CAT-based 2027-28 programmes. Candidates should follow the current CAT, CUET-PG or programme-specific admission notification applicable to their course.
For the four CAT-based programmes, candidates first need to appear for CAT 2026. After the CAT result, eligible candidates apply through the TISS admission process when the application window opens.
The general process is:
1. Make sure you meet the eligibility requirements.
2. Appear for the required entrance examination.
3. Register on the TISS admission portal.
4. Fill in personal and academic details.
5. Select the applicable programme.
6. Pay the application fee.
7. Submit the application and follow the shortlisting and selection schedule.
The exact application procedure for 2027 may be updated by TISS.
The following are the 2026 fee figures for reference. Fees for 2027 may change.

These are minimum CAT percentile cut-offs for shortlisting, not guaranteed final admission cut-offs. TISS also reserves the right to modify its cut-off and selection parameters.
For 2027-28 admission, candidates should aim for a strong CAT percentile rather than preparing only around the previous minimum cut-off. The actual shortlisting criteria and cut-offs may change when TISS releases the final 2027 selection criteria.
TISS Mumbai has a strong placement record, particularly for its MA Human Resource Management & Labour Relations programme. TISS Mumbai can be considered by students interested in specialised areas of management rather than a conventional MBA.
● MA HRM & LR: HR, talent management, employee relations and organisational roles.
● MA ODCL: Organisation development, leadership, change management and consulting-related roles.
● MHA: Hospital administration, healthcare operations, consulting and healthcare management.
● MSc Analytics: Data analytics, business analytics, research and related analytical roles.
The official TISS programme pages highlight industry and management-oriented career opportunities for these programmes.
If you are targeting the CAT-based programmes, your preparation should begin with CAT 2026 preparation, especially:
● Build strong concepts in Quantitative Aptitude.
