TISS CAT 2027 is a key admission search for management aspirants interested in the MA in Human Resource Management & Labour Relations (MA HRM & LR) at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. The programme prepares students for careers in human resources, employee relations, organisational development and related fields.
Candidates should understand the CAT exam pattern, syllabus, eligibility criteria, reservation rules, application process and selection procedure before applying. This guide covers these details and includes the published 2026 admission-cycle information to help candidates understand the process.
The admission details shared here are drawn from the information available at present, so they may shift over time. Kindly consult the official TISS Admissions website for current updates.
TISS considers CAT scores when shortlisting applicants for its MA HRM & LR programme. The institute manages its own programme selection process; the IIMs do not conduct the TISS interview or make the final programme admission decisions.
The CAT 2025 examination used for the 2026-27 TISS admission cycle had three sections.
Time management across sections is essential, since each one has its own allotted duration. The marking scheme rewards correct responses and penalises incorrect multiple-choice answers.
Under the published selection criteria, CAT scores contributed 70% and the online interview accounted for 30% of the final merit score. Gender diversity was also considered during shortlisting. The shortlisting framework also included gender-diversity weightage.
Preparation should cover the following major areas across the three CAT sections.
VARC
● Reading comprehension
● Para summaries and para jumbles
● Sentence placement
● Verbal reasoning, inference and central ideas
DILR
● Tables, charts and graphs
● Data interpretation caselets
● Arrangements and grouping
● Scheduling and distribution
● Logical puzzles and analytical reasoning
Quantitative Aptitude
● Percentages, ratios and averages
● Profit, loss and interest
● Algebra and equations
● Number systems
● Geometry and mensuration
● Permutations, combinations and probability
Think of this as a study roadmap of topics, not a definitive collection of exam questions. Topic coverage and difficulty can vary between CAT papers.
Candidates should verify the following academic requirements before applying:
● A recognised bachelor's or master's degree of at least three or four years, or an equivalent qualification meeting the prescribed 15-year formal-education requirement.
● Accepted educational patterns include 10+2+3, 10+2+4 and other qualifying equivalent structures.
● Those pursuing a three-year degree should have passed every subject from semesters 1 to 4 before submitting their application.
● At the application stage, four-year degree holders must have completed all subjects in the first six semesters successfully.
● Final admission remains provisional until the required degree certificate and final marksheet or grade sheet are provided.
Applicants should enter their academic information accurately and retain supporting documents for verification.
The published admission rules provide for category-based reservation, subject to the applicable Government of India provisions and required documentation.
Applicants claiming reservation must provide valid certificates in the prescribed format. The actual allocation depends on applicable rules and merit-list procedures; percentages should not be converted directly into guaranteed seat counts for each category.
The following dates are from the 2026-27 TISS admission cycle (CAT 2026 scores) , which used CAT 2025 scores.
Treat these dates as a reference for how admission events are sequenced, and follow the schedule announced for your own cycle.
Candidates seeking admission to MA HRM & LR must appear for CAT. The registration process generally includes:
1. Creating an account on the CAT portal.
2. Entering personal and contact details.
3. Providing academic and category information.
4. Uploading the required photograph and signature.
5. Selecting examination-city preferences.
6. Paying the examination fee.
7. Submitting the form and saving the confirmation.
Registering for CAT and applying to the TISS programme are two distinct procedures, since TISS asks for its own application. Applicants should follow the instructions for their admission cycle.
After CAT registration, candidates should complete the TISS application process according to the programme admission instructions.
The process generally involves logging in to the designated admissions portal, selecting MA HRM & LR, entering academic and personal details, uploading documents, paying the application fee and submitting the form. Candidates should save the acknowledgement and ensure their information matches their supporting records.
The published TISS CAT-PG fee schedule is based on the number of programmes selected.
Bank charges are additional. A separate ₹50 processing charge applied to SBI cash-deposit payments. TISS application fees are non-refundable.
For CAT 2025, the examination fee was ₹2,600 for candidates outside the SC/ST/PwD categories and ₹1,300 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. This is separate from the TISS application fee.
Income certificates must be issued by an authorised official. OBC-NCL applicants must meet the Central List requirements and submit the prescribed certificate. Candidates should also retain academic records, degree certificates and originals required for subsequent verification.
Candidates can access the CAT admit card through their candidate login when released. Check the name, photograph, registration details, examination date, session, test-centre address and reporting instructions.
If a discrepancy appears, follow the examination authority's instructions for assistance. Carry the identity proof and other items specified in the admit-card instructions.
The CAT admit card is separate from any TISS interview or assessment communication. Shortlisted candidates should monitor their registered email address and admission account for further instructions.
The TISS CAT 2027 pathway leads to the M.A. in Human Resource Management and Labour Relations at TISS Mumbai. Knowing the exam format, syllabus, eligibility rules, reservation policy, application process and selection method helps you plan your preparation. Build strong concepts, practise mock tests and improve in every CAT section, and track deadlines and paperwork in advance.
Since dates, fees and eligibility may be revised, confirm everything on the official TISS Admissions website before applying.

Candidates aiming for programmes such as MA HRM & LR at TISS Mumbai in the 2027-28 session can apply through this CAT-based route.
The published programme intake is 60 seats.
The CAT examination consists of three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Aptitude (QA). Candidates should check the applicable examination instructions for the final pattern and marking rules.
CAT scores are used for shortlisting, followed by further TISS selection stages. The applicable selection criteria determine the final merit list.
Candidates should follow TISS's programme application instructions in addition to completing CAT registration.
For the published 2026-27 cycle, the overall CAT percentile thresholds were 70 for General/KM/AF/EWS, 63 for OBC-NCL and 53 for SC/ST, with separate sectional cut-offs. These figures should not be treated as guaranteed future-cycle cut-offs.
For one programme, the published fee was ₹1,750 for General, ₹1,250 for OBC-NCL/EWS and ₹750 for SC/ST and eligible GoI-PMS candidates. The amount changes with the number of programmes selected.
Once the examination schedule is published, check the CAT portal for the exact date.
