CAT 2024 Eligibility:


  • To take the CAT exam, you must at least be a graduate of any stream.

  • To be eligible to participate in CAT 2024, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree with at least 50% of the total or an equivalent CGPA (45% of the total for SC, ST, and PWD/DA categories) from an accredited university.

  • The bachelor's degree program should last three years, regardless of whether it is regular or distance learning.

  • Candidates may also take the CAT if they have earned the necessary percentage in a professional degree (CA, CS, ICWA, or FCAI).

  • Applicants who are waiting on their results or who are in their last year of a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification may also take the CAT 2024 exam.

CAT Marking Scheme 2024:


  • marks will be awarded for each correct answer.

  • CAT Negative Marking: For each incorrect response, 1 mark will be deducted.

  • There will be no deduction of marks for unanswered CAT questions.

  • There will also be no deduction of marks for non-MCQ questions.

CAT 2024 Exam Syllabus:


  • To begin preparing for CAT 2024, familiarize yourself with the syllabus. Although the IIMs do not offer a formal syllabus, one can grasp a generalized syllabus by examining past year's patterns.

  • The Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Aptitude (QA) components are included in the CAT syllabus for 2024. The Indian Institute of Management has established the CAT exam syllabus, which is regarded as the most difficult of all MBA entrance exams in India.

CAT VARC Syllabus 2024:


  • The first component of the CAT question paper, known as the Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) section , must be completed in 40 minutes.

  • The two subparts of the section are Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability.

  • The majority of the questions in this section are RC questions, but the VA portion also includes questions with odd sentences, parajumbles, and paracompletions. Checkout the important VARC topics for the CAT syllabus.

CAT DILR Syllabus 2024:


  • After completing the VARC section of the CAT question paper, you must tackle the second section, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR).

  • This section takes 40 minutes to complete for candidates.

  • This section contains 20 questions.

  • The CAT 2024 selection process will begin as soon as the results are released following the conclusion of the cat exam.

  • The CAT 2024 selection process will normally comprise a Group Discussion and Personal Interview phases. Candidates would be shortlisted on the basis of their CAT exam result and performance in selection rounds such as GD and PI.

  • Because each IIM has a unique screening criterion and admission process. Students are recommended to be aware of all the requirements accessible on their websites while applying for certain IIMs.

CAT 2024 Stage-wise Detailed Selection Process:

  • Shortlisting according to CAT percentile

  • Becoming qualified for GD and WAT.

  • Progressing to Personal Interview (PI)

  • Release of individual Final Merit Lists

  • Final selection and eligibility verification.

Step 1: CAT 2024 Percentile-Based Shortlisting:

  • The 90 percentile for general candidates is over the minimal cut-off for the older IIMs.

  • There will be a reduced minimum cut-off for reserved categories.

  • The newer IIMs will have a minimum cut-off that falls between the 80 and 60 percentiles.

  • Candidates who meet these requirements will receive calls for the GD, PI, and WAT.

  • Candidates selected for the first round of the CAT screening process in 2024 will receive invitation letters via the email addresses they registered.

Step 2: Becoming eligible for both WAT and GD:

  • You will be contacted for either GD or WAT if you meet the requirements for the specific CAT-IIM cut off basis for CAT 2024.

Step 3 : Personal Interview (PI):

  • This is the final round, applicants must pass this round in order to get selected for admission in IIM.

Step 4: Individual Final Merit List Release:

  • The requirements for admission to each IIM will differ.

  • IIMs will announce their final merit list based on the below listed considerations.

  • CAT exam score

  • Overall performance in WAT, GD and PI rounds

  • Class 10th and 12th marks

  • Gender diversity factor

  • Work experience

  • Reservations

Step 5: Verification of Eligibility and Final Selection:

  • All candidates who are invited for an in-person interview at IIMs must adhere to the requirements for eligibility and verification for the final selection process of the CAT.

  • At this point, candidates will be awarded marks based on their academic performance

CAT Exam Registration Fee:


  • ₹1250 for SC, ST and PwD category candidates.

  • ₹2500 for all other categories of candidates.

  • Please note that a candidate needs to pay the registration fees only once, irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying for Fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
