ABOUT SSC CGL 2024

SSC CGL is a national-level exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to shortlist candidates for Group-B and Group-C posts in various ministries/departments/organizations of the Government of India. Every year, about 30 lakh candidates fill out the SSC CGL application form and about 15-18 lakh aspirants appear for the exam. Staff Selection Commission conducts the exam in four stages, called tiers. The two tiers of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam are conducted online

SSC CGL Full Form

The full form of SSC CGL is Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL). The name of the exam is taken from the qualification required for the exam. A graduate degree is a basic qualification required to apply for the exam.

SSC CGL Eligibility 2024

The official notification mentioned all the important eligible conditions for the exam. SSC CGL eligibility criteria varied as per the post applied by the candidate. The SSC eligibility criteria are explained below:

SSC CGL Nationality/Citizenship Requirement

A candidate must be a citizen of India, a person of Indian origin, a subject of Nepal/Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee

SSC CGL Age Limit

It is important to note here that the Commission changed the cutoff date for age calculation in the SSC CGL 2024 notification. A candidate should be between 18 and 32 years

SSC CGL Qualification Required

A candidate should have a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or institute.

The Staff Selection Commission released the SSC CGL tier 1 exam in September- October 2024. The Commission is expected to release SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2024 in the official notification. SSC CGL 2024 MARKING SCHEME

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Marking Scheme

The candidates can calculate their marks from the tentative answer key because there is not much changes in the final answer key. The SSC CGL Tier 1 marking scheme is summarised below:

The Commission will carry out the normalisation process on these raw marks to arrive at the normalised marks and based on which, the SSC CGL Tier 1 result will be prepared.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Marking Scheme

There are three papers in the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam and the marks allotted for the questions in each paper is different. SSC CGL 2024 SELECTION PROCESS

SSC CGL Selection Process 2024

SSC CGL selection process includes the following stages/tiers:

  • Application process: Candidates need to fill out the application form online on the official website of the commission in a specified manner. The application fee is INR 100.
  • Tier 1 application status - The regional websites of SSC releases the application status of the candidates, mentioning the acceptance or rejection of the application. It will also inform about the exam date of the candidate.
  • Tier 1 admit cards: SSC regional websites release the admit for the CGL Tier-I exam four days before the exam day. The candidates need to download their admit cards from these regional SSC websites in a specified manner.
  • Tier 1 exam: Tier-I is a Computer-Based Exam (CBE) that contains objective-type Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) of 200 marks. 
  • Tier 1 Answer Key - SSC releases the tentative answer within ten days of the completion of the exam. The Commission asks the candidates to raise objections against the incorrect questions/answers given in the official answer key.
  • Tier 1 result: The result is declared by SSC on its official website within 45 days of the exam. The result contains the names and/or roll numbers of candidates qualifying for the Tier-II exam. 
  • Tier 2 admit card: Eligible candidates need to download their admit cards for the Tier-II exam from the official regional websites. The admit card is typically released about one week before the exam. 
  • Tier 2 exam: Tier II is again a CBE that is divided into three papers.
  • SSC CGL result: Final result is announced based on candidates' performance in tier-I and tier-II exams. All qualifying candidates are then allotted Group B and C posts in various ministries/departments/organisations of the Government of India. 

SSC CGL 2024 REGISTRATION FEE

Candidates could pay the SSC CGL application fee of INR 100 in online only via BHIM UPI/internet banking/credit card/debit card. However, all females and candidates belonging to reserved categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PwD) and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) were exempted from the application fee payment.
